Surprise surprise. I knew it the moment we posted it. It simply had “garbage news” written all over it. To recap, the U.S. Customs is preventing shipments of both the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE and the AT&T One X from arriving at their respective destinations. The result forced Sprint to cancel today’s anticipated launch with no timetable on when we can get our hands on the next EVO.

Supposedly Best Buy had the inside track with a “new and improved” release date of May 23. Folks, until you see news that the U.S. Customs has released the shipments, don’t believe any release dates. Sprint can’t schedule the release date until the product is released because they have no way of knowing how long this will take. We hope it will be sooner rather than later, but do you think Apple won’t try to drag this as long as they can? Anyways, Best Buy is now sending out the above email to customers, correcting their snafu.

Want to know excited the public is for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone’s release? Well according to Reuters, Samsung has gotten 9 million preorders for the device across 100 mobile carriers. In addition, Samsung plans on handling the high demand for the device by having its smartphone factory in South Korea run at full capacity— which should be able to produce up to 5 million units per month. Oh– and Sammy is expecting major gains from all the hoopla as well as the Galaxy S III is expected to “substantially contribute” to its Q2 earnings. Looks like Sammy is well-positioned to keep its claim of being one of the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer.

Talk about the Galaxy S III being bigger than we thought. Sheesh.

We know the Samsung Galaxy S III will hit the U.S. this summer, but we have no idea when or exactly what carriers. We’ve heard rumblings that it could land on all four major carriers. Meanwhile, at CTIA, they specifically told me that it would be on available in the U.S. as an HSPA+ device as well as the fastest LTE network. We have further confirmation for T-Mobile and AT&T as it appears those two variants made its way through Bluetooth certification.

Model SGH-I747 appears destined for AT&T and Amazon seems to agree. Model SGH-T999 appears to be headed to T-Mobile. We’ve already seen this model show up on the global Galaxy S III. We’ve also seen both of these models show up with test shots recently. Those test shots also indicated model numbers for Sprint and Verizon as well, which are SPH-L710 and SGH-I535 respectively.

Now the question is when? Samsung will most likely host an event in New York City in the early Summer to announce all the variants. At that time we will have a firm handle on when we will see them. I am guessing August, but am hoping for July.

The U.S. District of Delaware ordered HTC and Apple to meet face to face with the goal of discussing a potential settlement for the long-standing patent infringment suits— which of course has a direct effect on certain anticipated smartphones being released as of right now. Reports indicate the representatives who go to the mediation sessions must be able to make independent decisions, though it’s unclear if the CEOs for both companies will also attend as they are for similar hug it out mediations between Samsung and Apple. The meeting has been confirmed on August 28th and will be mediated by Magistrate Judge Sherry R. Fallon.

Let’s hope this meeting will be the beginning of the end of the silly spats we see between Apple vs. the World already. We know HTC is already trying to appease Apple already for its upcoming phones.

Why people still use Windows but they can still use Windows applications on Ubuntu through wine for free?
I just checked on youtube. wine can successfully launch without any major performance issues Crysis 2, Skyrim, Limbo, Office, 3d Max like those Major products in the market. so what’s the point people still stick with Windows since Ubuntu is completely free.I don’t get this.
I didn’t say I prefer Ubuntu. I have never been liked to Ubuntu either but I am just wondering what’s the exact reason.

Best answer:

Answer by Guru Hank
You might find you prefer using virtualbox to run a Windows OS on Ubuntu, instead of using Wine.
